Our fresh, delicious, squeaky cheese curds are made fresh Monday and Friday mornings. We only ship cheese curds on Mondays, the day they are made, so they are as fresh as possible when they arrive. Connoisseurs should consider next day air shipping, but our curds will still be quite good if you choose 2-3 day shipping. Large orders, for five pounds or more, should be placed by 8 am on the Friday before the Monday you want them shipped to insure that enough fresh cheese curds are made to fill your order.
Cheese curds are fresh, young cheddar cheese in its natural, random shape. Typically, cheddar cheese is pressed into blocks and aged anywhere from 60 days to 10 years, getting sharper as it ages. Fresh curds have a mild flavor and smooth texture and literally do squeak as you chew them. They should be served at room temperature. Many customers warm them for a short time in a microwave after they have been refrigerated to restore the desired texture. Cheese curds become dry and salty as they age, so eat them up quickly. For most cheese curd lovers, that’s never a problem!
Batter fried cheese curds are a Wisconsin tradition. We have customers all over the country who grew up eating them! A 1 lb. bag of fresh cheese curds and a bag of cheese curd batter mix is all you need to make this classic Wisconsin delicacy in your own kitchen. Just follow the instructions on the batter mix bag.
